Website Marketing – Back To Basics

October 4, 2012 by Louisa Chan Leave a Comment

Which One Will Your Online Business Invest In?

Website and Social Media What Surveys Have Found
44% of Google Search is local business related. That means your prospects are searching for you online even if you have an offline local business. And that’s almost half of all Google Search.
If you don’t have your own website, you are wasting all that traffic. And you’ll also want to make sure that your site is mobile friendly or responsive.
In a recent internet retailer conference, Econsultancy asked 100 senior decision makers what they are likely to invest in. 59% of respondents indicated they want to make the greatest investment on their websites, followed by 35% on mobile and 22% on social networks.
This is not surprising to those who understand the importance of having your own online asset This is your home base where you can send people to from the different social networking sites.
In a recent poll I sent out to my subscribers, I have found that investing in online websites top the list (amidst setting up social media presence).
Your Self-Hosted Website Is Your Only Online Asset
Yes even in 2012. Having a self-hosted website just mean having your own brand name as your domain, your own personalized website.
Instead of QuickMuscleRelief.WordPress.com, you can now have QuickMuscleRelief.com. It is with your brand name has your web address and is hosted on your server. This is yours. Nobody can take it away from you.
Having a strong social media presence can not to be neglected but these can never replace having your own website.
There are a at least 3 reasons why you need to have your own website
– Your clients expect you to have one
– You want to be found by people looking for your on local searches
– It gives your business credibility
I am going to show you exactly how you can set up your own free online WordPress.com blog site in a 9-minute step-by-step video tutorial here.

Why You Need A Self-Hosted Professional Web Presence

June 15, 2012 by Louisa Chan Leave a Comment

You Are Told That You Need A Professional and Self Hosted Web Presence
And not just a web site or a blog site but a professional web presence that is self-hosted with your own domain name representing your brand.

But what if you are already having a thriving Facebook community and thousands of followers on Twitter? Or may be you already have a blogsport site (most popular blog site) and a very successful offline local business. Do you still need a self-hosted site?
Why Do You Need A Functional And Professional Web Presence/Web Site?
There are many reasons why you would want to have an authority site online. Depending on who your target audience is and what you want to achieve with your web presence, here are a few factors to consider:
For Branding Purposes:
Corporate / Professional identity and online Market Authority or Leadership.
It tells others Who You are and What You do.

For Marketing Purposes:
• L
ead Generation
• Communication with existing customer base.
• Communication with potential customers.
• For building relationships with customers and turning them into paying customers.
From A Business Point of View:
•
Globalization – You can reach global and new audience. Hundreds of millions of users surf the net every day, you certainly do not want to miss out on this traffic.
• Changing Habits – people do their work, learn, shop and have fun on line. Your prospects want to check you out – online and you need a powerful, professionals presence (not just a static brochure site).
• For Sustainability and Ownership you want to have your own domain site and not build your entire business on social media platforms (which is on rented property and the landlord can chase you out anytime).
• It leverages on your time and resources so you get more done in less time.
With a Functional and Professional Web Site, you can achieve the following:
• Let others know about you, what your brand represents and what you offer.
• Showcase your service and expertise (or products).
• Have your own online asset, your home base where you provide a place for your community to connect and engage.
• Educate prospective clients and your community.
• Sell your product and/or service.

But How Do you Have A Professional And Effective Web Presence?
Through fanciful design and animated files? How about putting up lengthy pages on everything about the business on the site?

Having a professional web presence is not about putting up an exact copy of your physical brochure onto the net. Having lots of high resolution big photos or fanciful flash videos may also not accomplish the results you want (it may actually make it less effective).
Effective online or Digital Web Design needs to include functionality and usability as well as being visually attractive. A streamlined simple page that is searchable, accessible with easy navigation and is mobile ready will attract more human visitors and search engine bots. Often the work that is done behind the scene (not visible to the eye) is just as important as the visual design you see for a site to be optimized.
So the next time you want to give your web site a makeover or some renovations, you can make use of the above checklist. Your website has a job to accomplish and how you design it will affect the effectiveness of your online presence (the other critical component will be having the right kind of content).
If you’d like to set up your own website or have a website makeover, contact us for more details. If you want to set up your own website then check out these video tutorials and let us know if you have any questions.
P/S It’s not difficult to maintain your own blogsite or upload files. The result of getting more clients will be worth the effort

An Ethical Professional Online Marketing Code Of Conduct

September 15, 2011 by Louisa Chan 1 Comment

Online Marketing Code of Conduct
Online Marketing Code of Conduct

During the week, some of my published articles were republished on others’ sites – that is a good thing.
And some of them were modified without my permission. That is not such a good thing. And it is not allowed.
But it happens and I have written a post on this before some time back. There are lots of credible marketers and there are the minority who manipulates the systems, looks for loop holes and does things that are less than desirable.
While the internet has made it easier for self publishing and sharing, unfortunately there are those who do not abide by the codes of online marketing conduct. And it only takes a few to break the code for others to want to stay away from “Internet Marketers”; which has inherited a less than desirable reputation – and I can understand why.
So how do you deal with this as a marketer?
Do you stop sharing and giving?
Do you also join in the crowd and “go with the flow?”
It took me some time to learn this lesson of letting go. We cannot allow others’ behavior to affect how we will conduct ourselves. If you believe in abundance then you will believe in shinning brighter when the surrounding grows dim.
I enjoy writing and sharing. So long as I continue to immerse myself in online social media marketing and growth strategies for small businesses, I will have new and unique content to share so you too can benefit from my knowledge and findings. So watch this space for tips on online marketing.
Remember too that what is copied will soon be out-dated and in many cases incomplete because the person who copies typically does not see the bigger picture from which the author writes.
There is no need to take what is others and present it as though it is yours (incidentally the word for that is stealing) because there is enough resources to go round – if you know where to look and how to tap into it.
If you want to build a strong and sustaining business, you will want to build it on expertise, authority, credibility and reputation. Tricks and manipulations do not work in the long run.
I am sure there are marketers you respect and there are those whom you stay away from. So decide which ones you want to model after.
In the next post, I will share with you how you can have enough material to create your own unique content. And if you like to share with me your take on this, I like to hear from you too.
I hope you find this report useful and practical.  If you have any questions just post them at the comments below and I will be responding with either a video or a blog post.
