Of Local Searches and Website Text, Handling Rejection and Getting Real Likes

Which Social Media Platform?

I’m seeing pumpkins everywhere. That just means the year is going to rush by very quickly! Time to get things in place for the end-of-the-year rush!

This past week we had a special ceremony rolling out a new website for a local client. It was important for the client to put his logo in a specific corner facing a specific direction and to unveil the site at a specific time.
Yeap, we are in the digital marketing age. And our tech person performs magic to make things happen.

This week we saw Facebook reaching the 1 billion active users mark and we remember Steve Job’s passing. We also see new research showing that half of Google searches as local.

That means even if you have an offline local business, your prospects are looking for you on line not all the time (yet) but half the time. Food for thought?

Here’s this week’s brief, so grab your coffee for some business building resources.

Marketing
1 – 43 Percent Of Total Google Search Queries Are Local
2 – 51% Of Small Businesses Still Don’t Have Websites
3 – Website Marketing – Back To Basics
4 – Simple Tips to Improve Your Website Text

Social Media
1 –Are You Liking and Recommending Your Competition?
2 –Follow The Leaders: LinkedIn Puts Own Spin On ‘Followers’
3 –Facebook Deleting Fake ‘Likes’

Business
1– How to Handle Rejection: 4 Tips

We have just finished the tutorial on “How to Set Up Your Own WordPress.com blog site in 2 minutes“. That was in response to the survey results we got from your participation. Have you put up your site yet?

We have also just finished recording a tutorial on using “Free Facebook” as that was the 2nd most requested item from the survey. We are putting finishing touches to this tutorial. It should be ready for you very soon.

OK, that’s all for this week! If you have some interesting news about your business that you like us to share and highlight here just send those in. We can features your business and celebrate with you.

Website Marketing – Back To Basics

Which One Will Your Online Business Invest In?

Website and Social Media What Surveys Have Found
44% of Google Search is local business related. That means your prospects are searching for you online even if you have an offline local business. And that’s almost half of all Google Search.
If you don’t have your own website, you are wasting all that traffic. And you’ll also want to make sure that your site is mobile friendly or responsive.
In a recent internet retailer conference, Econsultancy asked 100 senior decision makers what they are likely to invest in. 59% of respondents indicated they want to make the greatest investment on their websites, followed by 35% on mobile and 22% on social networks.
This is not surprising to those who understand the importance of having your own online asset This is your home base where you can send people to from the different social networking sites.
In a recent poll I sent out to my subscribers, I have found that investing in online websites top the list (amidst setting up social media presence).
Your Self-Hosted Website Is Your Only Online Asset
Yes even in 2012. Having a self-hosted website just mean having your own brand name as your domain, your own personalized website.
Instead of QuickMuscleRelief.WordPress.com, you can now have QuickMuscleRelief.com. It is with your brand name has your web address and is hosted on your server. This is yours. Nobody can take it away from you.
Having a strong social media presence can not to be neglected but these can never replace having your own website.
There are a at least 3 reasons why you need to have your own website
– Your clients expect you to have one
– You want to be found by people looking for your on local searches
– It gives your business credibility
I am going to show you exactly how you can set up your own free online WordPress.com blog site in a 9-minute step-by-step video tutorial here.

What Is Moon Cake Festival?

Happy Mid Autumn! Yes, we are celebrating Mid Autumn Festival already (sometimes referred to as the Moon Cake Festival).

A Moon Cake Message: I wrote about a Chinese folklore where a Han revolution was made possible by these moon cakes (made from lotus seed). Some powerful moon cakes huh?

How To Add A Pinterest Pin It Button On Your Website

September 5, 2012 by Louisa Chan Leave a Comment

How To Install Pinterest Pin It Button On Your Website

Pinterest ImageEncourage Pinning From Your Web Site

If you like visitors pinning images from your WordPress site you can easily install a plug in that will display the “Pin It” button onto your blog site, pages and posts.

There are a few plug ins that you can use, among them, the WordPress Pinterest Pin It Button or this plugin.

If you are not using a Word Press site, then you can follow the steps below to put a “Pin It Button” on any pages or posts.

You can go to www.Pinterest.com/about/goodies and scroll down till you see “Pin It Button for Website”. Just add in the web address of the post or page where you want the Pin It Button (http://yourdomain.com/post) as well as the web address of the image to be pinned (http://yourdomain.co/image).  Then add in a few words for the description of this pin.

Pinterest_Button

Once you have done that, some codes will appear below the description. Follow the instruction and copy these 2 sets of codes to your blog site. One where you want the “Pin It Button” to appear [on your blog post] and the other one at the end of your post, just before the </body> tags.

As you can see there is no coding involved at all. It is going to the right place, grabbing some codes and putting them on your blog site. Not complicated is it?

And just like that you have your pin it button on your blog post or pages so any visitors can pin images from your site whether they have Pin It Bookmarklet installed on their browsers or not.

Pinterest

You can also add in text that says something like “click on the Pin It Button if you like this on your ping board” so visitors know what to do.  You would of course want to make sure that you have high resolution attractive images for others to want to repin. So now every one can rein your images whether they have the Pin It Bookmarklet or not.

If you like to refer to how to get the Pinterest Bookmarket installed, here’s a video that will walk you through it. If you have any questions just leave them at the comment section below.

Resources for the Week 31st August 2012 – Visual Social Media And Closing More Sales

Petronas Twin Tower in Malaysia
Hello There! Welcome to your weekly update with tips and inspirations for growing your business!

It’s “Merdeka” Day and I wish Beautiful Malaysia a Happy Birthday!

And for those in the States here’s wishing you a great Memorial Day!

This has been a very happening week. Clients and new friends downloaded both the free Pinterest and LinkedIn report and really took action.

They started experimenting with the tools and raised some more questions (which I will address below).

We also got queries on the Personalized LinkedIn Profile Optimization  project that we offer to our subscribers and circle of friends.

In today’s edition, I’ll provide some additional resources on business trends and tips as well as address some of the more commonly raised questions raised:

1 – How do I pin?
Since many of us are visual learners and prefer diagrams or video walk throughs, I decided to do a short video to show the 3 different ways we can go about pinning on Pinterest.

2 – Is there a way I can schedule my Pinterest posts?
You bet. Most of us have contacts and friends from all over the world and we want to post and pin at times where our contacts are awake or are most likely to spend time on their Pinterest accounts. PingGraphy allows you to do that.

3 – How Do I Make Nice Images of Quotes or Text?
ShareAsImage (used to be called Pin A Quote) allows you to make nice images out of inspiring quotes or captivating text that you want to share on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. There is a free basic version and a more robust paid version

Additional Resources:

How To Add Pinterest Pin It Bookmarklet So You Can Pin From Any Websites

August 31, 2012 by Louisa Chan 2 Comments

A Pinterest Bookmarklet Allows You To Pin From Any Site

Using Pinterest For BusinessNow that you have set up your Pinterest account you want to start pinning images onto your various pinboards.

Pin by Re-Pinning. You can do that by re-pinning images that you see on others’ board or you can pin images, infographs and videos that you see on websites if they have the Pin It Button installed.

Pin Using Pin It Buttons. Some websites have added Pin It Button (like the one you see here) onto their website and blog posts. So if you click on the Pin It buttons on the sites you visit it you’ll be able to pin the image from these websites.

Pin Using Bookmarlets. Some sites have not installed the Pin It Buttons yet. So in case you are wondering how you can pin from these site, don’t worry. The fastest and easiest way to Pin images from any website is to make use of a Pin It Bookmarklet. These can sit on your tool bar or you can save them as bookmarks or favourites.

This is something very easily done. Depending on which browser you are using to surf the internet (whether it is Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorere) the steps are slightly different. And I have made a short video to walk you through this step by step so you don’t have to feel lost and can start pinning in 5 minutes!

How To Install Pinterest Pin It Bookmarlet.
If you have any questions feel free to post these using the comments below.

So What Is Pinterest?
Don’t have a Pinterest account yet? Or you don’t really know what this is and how it can help you grow your wellness business then here’s a post you can refer to. It has a report that tells you exactly how to set up your Pinterest account and how to start getting clients from this additional social media channel.

Pinterest is a great source of clients and awareness for many small businesses and it works especially well for those in the wellness industry as you can pin images of your clinics/spa centers, of your equipment, clients, charts, healthy recipes, posture charts, trigger points charts, massage chairs models etc.

I just pinned a ton of visuals in my wellness board, you get the idea of what you can put on your board that will attract clients. My new 29-page guide “A Beginner’s Guide For Wellness Professionals” shows you step by step from start to finish how wellness professionals can benefit from this new female-led social network.
