You want to write a book and you hear yourself asking “Are you sure? English is not your first language”. Heard that one before!
We have a thousand reasons for not starting the good work we are concerned with.
Yet, can a car with only half a tank of gas take you to your destination?
Can it run at full speed? With air conditioning on? And the CD as well? You bet.
What’s that self doubting question again?
What’s stopping you from offering your service to help others?
I guess we need to balance urgency with wanting to get fully equipped.
Sometimes in an effort to want to be perfect we forgot that there are people needing help right now, right where you are.
My teacher T Harv Eker says, “Every master was once a disaster”. And it is better to test business ideas out even if you “miss the mark” than to wait till you are fully ready to launch. That may not be for another 10 years.
Let’s take a look at another example.
In urgent situations, your willingness to help can be all that is required to get the work done and that is PRECIOUS! Here’s a person caught between the rail way gaps. 40 strangers jumped out and looked for ways to help, they did not wait nor asked if they had the qualifications; they just had to find a way to make this work.
And they did.
The train was back on track in a 8 minutes and the women was unhurt.
I am dramatizing it a bit here but if we open our eyes and our ears we will know that there are people around us who will need the service we can provide. Whether it is to hear them out, coach them through a journey or guide, support, train and advice. T Harv Eker also taught me to “Get Ready, Fire and then Aim”.
If you have the experience and the know-how, you can help and you gain experience and perfect your skills along the way. So long as you are not performing brain surgery you are not putting any one’s life at risk here.
As a heart-centered business person you will of course be responsible and not want to cause harm. There are surely peoeple around you that you can help. That is where choosing the right target market and using the right strategies help. You can serve even if you may not consider yourself ready.
I am not advocating a lax attitude or being sloppy but I am saying we don’t need to let age, experience, culture or any other reason deter you from shinning or starting up your own heart-centered business.
15-year old Malala believed that everyone should be given the chance to study and she championed the cause with a big heart and fearless courage. I don’t believe she was any education specialist or had any tertiary degree. She was driven by her heart. That conviction got her a 2 bullets in her head.
But that did not stop her. This young girl spoke with composure and confidence at the UN in front of diplomats about a cause she believed in. She was not concerned with her public speaking skills or her expertise in education. And Malala’s message captivated the audience, it rang strong and clear though she was frail and small.
So what do you need to start a heart-centered business offering service that others will need?
Conviction.
Passion.
Courage.
Knowledge and experience which you would have if you have been trained in your field.
Her power or success lies not in the perfection of language or education. She was perfect in her intention and purpose. Her light shone and gave inspiration and hope to those seeking the same cause. No wonder she is named among the 100 most influential people in the world.
Listen to your heart, if it tells you you are ready and that there are people who can benefit from your service then you are ready. Go. And then continue to learn and work on gaining experience and skills.
Heart-centered business is a business that cares deeply about the purpose and reason behind the doing, it has a message and it will stop at nothing to achieve this. It does not mind being imperfect. If you are ready to set up your business get in touch and we’ll help you get over the humps.

A very brilliant article Louisa and one that everyone that want to get that work done have to read. Actually, we’re always the one that is holding ourselves back from achieving that our desired dreams and goals and just like you, half tank is really enough. It’s always better to start even when we do not have all the fact because, if you continue waiting to have all the facts before you start, you might be waiting for a life time. Thanks for sharing this with the bizsugar community.

Hi Louisa,
You’ve laid down a very important point here and I can’t agree more. I found your blog via bizsugar and can’t help but, commend on your efforts on this post.
This is the problem we all face from time to time myself included. We’re always waiting for that right time to start that our desired goal forgetting that now is the right time. There is absolutely nothing like perfection and, if you keep on waiting for what you want to do to be perfect before starting then, you might be waiting forever because, the right time might never come.
There will definitely always be rooms for corrections so, why not start that business or services now and then, make corrections later?
I’ve really learnt a lot for this article Louisa.
Thanks for sharing and, have a great weekend.
