Facebook Etiquette For Professionals
Medical Associations and Councils around the world have very tight guidelines for professionals using Media. This is to protect medical staff and patients. But since the explosion of Facebook, professionals have jumped onto the platform without taking note of Facebook’s terms of use nor the industry’s code of ethics.
It is with these in mind that I was approached to write the article “Etiquette of Using Facebook for Medical Professionals” published by the Singapore National Heart Center.
Universal Principles The principles I shared in the article are based on fundamentals that apply to all professionals. Every industry upholds codes of ethics (whether you are a Coach, Trainer, Therapist, Teacher or Chiropractor). And every social platform has its own unwritten rules or etiquettes.
Etiquettes Are Guideposts
Your business’ outward online “behaviors” flows naturally from its inner intentions.
If your business mission includes offering solutions and adding value, chances are you would be observing these etiquettes without making conscious effort.
You will be respectful and responsible (refer to the 3Rs talked about in the published article).
This is not an extra formula that you need to memorize. These guidelines are not traps designed to disempower you.
So the question is: What’s the purpose or missin of your business?
Conversely companies that are all out to take advantage of naive clients will leave trails that are unpalatable. That’s when we see rampant spamming and scamming.
You Are A Star On Your Reality Show
Your market will be watching your every move. Impressions will be formed based on what you post and how you post on these platforms. So it is necessary to get the fundamentals right and your social media efforts will go a long way.
Important Facebook Tips For A Sustaining Business
I have a set of free vidoe tutorials here that talks about using Facebook the right way, aligned with the 3Rs mentioned in the article. These Facebook strategies will not go out of fashion even if new features are introduced regularly. Check these set of videos out here.
So What are the 3Rs?
