Following the recent radio interivew I had with BFM and all these other media coverage, you asked if I got these media interviews and press coverage through people I know and strings I pull.
Well, I did not get those through referrals because not all contacts have audience that are similar to mine.
What got our message out? I attribute getting media coverage to consistent and quality work we do and an effective marketing mix which we use.
There is no short cut or magic. The days of gaming Google (or any other platform) is fast coming to an end. If you are not familiar with what’s happening, a new Google Algorithm (this one is called Humming Bird) has been released and it completely throws black hat SEO out of the window.
Buying links and spinning articles or using any automated unnatural ways of getting online attention will hurt your business and your reputation. I have never liked any of those. The thing to focus on is to create good quality content that genuiely helps others [keyword here is GENUINELY, not just appearing so in order to gain clients].
That will always attract quality leads and clients. If the focus is on solving an issue or helping someone, that will go far.
If you have a message for the world and you’ll like some coverage, we can probably help you do just that. I started from zero, an unknown person at a corner of the world that nobody knows much about. But I constantly get contacted from local and international firms for projects.
Last week someone from a London office wrote and wanted to call to talk about some work. I did not know this person and I had not advertised.
And this suits me fine because being contacted is much better than chasing prospects all over town. Prospects who contact me view me in a better light than those I chase after. Don’t you think?
There are more professional, authentic and effecitve ways of getting heard and seen in this noisy market place than “spamming” on social media and buying email lists. By the way I still get mails I have not subscribed to. And you know I won’t open those mails…
There are various ways of getting your message out and it really does depend on who you serve. You’ll need a custom made marketing mix but this I would advise:
– Start creating great content.
– Start voicing your message.
– Stand up for what you believe.
Sitting on fences and staying low profile won’t get your message out.
And if you like to get that to more qualifed people in a more effective way, we can help you do just that professionally, elegantly and effetively.
