Weekend Reflection: What’s New in the New Year? 1st Jan 2016

January 1, 2016 by Louisa Chan Leave a Comment

New-Year-2016-FFSo 2016 has arrived and the new year signals a new and exciting beginning. Are you charged with renewed energies after the end-of-the-year reflections?

This is the time of the year when anticipation of new opportunities and business growth abounds and people are invigorated with new hopes.

Somehow, things will be different this year, right?

What’s New about the New Year?

But 1st of Jan is just another day. Nothing magically happens overnight to warrant new business success. There are still 24 hours a day and the tasks that need to be done have not diminished overnight.

So what’s new about the new year?

New Choices

It’s the new choices you make, the new habits to form and a fresh outlook based on the growth mindset that is open to adopting different strategies and processes.

Nothing is new unless You adopt new action plans. New in the way you think, feels, strategize, and execute your plans.

Nothing else under the sun has magically changed to enable business growth. However, we’ve finished a cycle, and a new one has just started. We can choose to make this one new if we adopt a different approach.

The keyword here is “choose“. It’s an active choice do things differently. To prune what has not worked well, to leave behind self-limiting thoughts, negativity and things that are pulling us backward and to adopt new standards and systems.

Reflections Precede New Approaches

Don’t launch the new year with new activities without knowing what needs changing and what needs reinforcement. Best way to start something new is to take a step back to reflect on how you have performed the previous cycle,
Check your books, look into available data to see what can work better.

  • Would a more strategic plan make the difference?
  • Or do you have to tighten up execution?
  • Do you need to consider an alternate perspective with an open mind?
  • Are there new processes you need to embrace?

What’s Going to Be New for You This Year?

Time will not slow down for us. Technology continues to advance, and client behavior continues to evolve.

  • Have you kept updated with new trends and the various predictions?
  • What is something you should stop doing?

Unless you have new action plans for the year, it’ would be hard to make this year different from the last.

Getting busy with new initiatives is not the answer – if the game plan is not clear. You need to know where the improved productivity is leading your business.
So what’s going to be new this year for you?
